Apex: The #1 Best Place to Live in America

We're not just saying that. In 2015, Apex stepped into the national spotlight when MONEY Magazine named it as the #1 pick among the "Best Places to Live in America." As any longtime Apex resident will tell you, that ranking should come as no surprise!

Centered around a historic downtown (not unlike Mayberry from The Andy Griffith Show), Apex encompasses more than 100 residential communities, 11 miles of greenway trails, and 500 acres of parkland. Its proximity to NC-540, US-1, and US-64 make a commute to Research Triangle Park, Durham, and Raleigh fairly quick.

Colorful brick storefronts in Downtown Apex, NC.

Downtown Apex

What's not to love about historic Downtown Apex? You'll find local boutiques, restaurants, antique stores, and sweet shops galore on Salem Street in these colorful brick buildings. This part of town also hosts plenty of street festivals throughout the year.

An old red brick building with the words Salem Street Promenade on the side.

The Promenade

Like many of the storefronts in Downtown Apex, Salem Street Promenade traces its roots back to the early 1900s. Now, this historic building is home to several cute boutiques and businesses, including the popular Common Grounds Coffee House.

A sprawling farm with green grass, wood fences, a pond, mature trees, and a barn in the background.

New Hill

If you're craving a bit of country living in the Apex area, you'll love New Hill. This rural community has plenty of properties with acreage, and the town of Apex has even annexed parts of New Hill for new estate home developments like Jordan Pointe.
